KABALE, UGANDA – In a shocking turn of events, angry parents and residents of Iziniro Village in Kabale District stormed and destroyed the property of Monday Expedito, a teacher at Maziba Mixed Primary School.

The mob’s violent action came after Expedito was accused of possessing and sacrificing pupils, allegations that have sparked widespread outrage and fear in the community.

Eyewitnesses reported that the mob burned four houses, including Expedito’s home, destroyed his plantation, and killed livestock.

The destruction was a culmination of rising tensions and suspicion among the community, which ultimately boiled over into violence.

The situation escalated during a school meeting led by Kabale Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Godfrey Nyakahuma and Acting District Education Officer (DEO) Moses Tumwijukye.

During the meeting, nine pupils reportedly began barking, crawling, and screaming, claiming that Expedito had “sacrificed” them.

This dramatic and disturbing incident seems to have further fueled the community’s anger and actions against the teacher.

RDC Nyakahuma swiftly condemned the mob action, emphasizing the importance of following legal procedures in addressing grievances.

In a bid to restore order and ensure justice, Nyakahuma ordered Expedito’s immediate transfer from the school and directed him to report to Kabale Police Station for preventive detention as investigations into the allegations are launched.

The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of both teachers and students in the region, as well as the potential for mob justice to undermine the rule of law.

Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the facts surrounding the allegations and to bring those responsible for the destruction of property to account.

As the situation continues to unfold, the community remains on edge, with many calling for calm and adherence to legal processes in resolving the crisis.

The education sector and local administration face the challenge of restoring normalcy and trust, ensuring that both students and teachers can operate in a safe and supportive environment.
