Mityana, Uganda – January 2, 2025 – The territorial police in Mityana have arrested Tibeita Teddy, a 25-year-old female, for allegedly murdering her 6-year-old stepdaughter, Nabbosa Irene Nakiyinji.

According to police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal, the victim’s father, Katete Paul, reported her disappearance on January 1, 2025, at around 7:46 am. A search was launched, and unfortunately, the victim’s body was discovered in a cassava garden in Zigoti East cell at around 4:00 pm on the same day.

Police investigations, led by a task team, analyzed footage from a nearby CCTV camera, which showed the suspect moving with the victim towards the crime scene. This evidence led to the arrest of Tibeita Teddy.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to participating in the murder of Nabbosa Irene Nakiyinji.

A postmortem examination revealed that the deceased was strangled and had not been defiled.

Further investigations suggest that the suspect was motivated by envy and a suspicion that her husband, Katete Paul, was involved in the death of her one-month-old son in December 2024.

The police are continuing their investigations into the matter. The arrest of Tibeita Teddy brings some measure of relief to the community, but the incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and protection of vulnerable members of society.
