Police in Rukungiri District are on the hunt for a man accused of brutally killing his partner, Evalyn Tusiime, in a shocking incident that has left the community in fear.
Amoni Gumisiriza, a resident of Kagando Village, Kabingo Parish in Buhunga Sub-county, is wanted for allegedly hacking Tusiime to death with a machete at her home on the evening of October 20, 2025.
According to Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, Tusiime and Gumisiriza had been cohabiting for five years, but their relationship had turned sour, with reports of threats to her life.
On the fateful evening, Gumisiriza allegedly attacked Tusiime while she was having supper at her home, inflicting deep cuts on her head, arm, and shoulder.
Tusiime’s cries for help attracted nearby residents, including the area chairperson, Justus Mugurura J., who rushed her to Nyakibale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police were quickly notified, and officers documented and processed the crime scene before conveying the body to Nyakibale Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Gumisiriza, however, fled the scene and remains at large. Maate has appealed to the public to share any information that may lead to his arrest, ensuring that justice is served for Tusiime and her family.
