Rakai, Uganda – Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the armed robbery of Shs150 million from Pulinali Semanda, owner of Zavuga Coffee Investments in Kalisizo, Rakai District.
The incident occurred on August 24, 2024, when Semanda, 53, was ambushed at his home after withdrawing cash from Centenary Bank in Kyotera for worker and supplier payments.
CCTV footage captured the robbery, showing Mwanje Gerald (alias Kigere Muzeyi) taking the bag from Semanda’s car while Joseph Kagimu (alias Bruno) held him at gunpoint with an AK-47 rifle.
Following an extensive investigation, police arrested:Mwanje Gerald (key suspect), Joseph Kagimu (alias Bruno), Alex Lule (alias Dodo), driver, Alex Nabbimba, witch doctor (surveillance)
Senteza Fred, Mwanje’s brother and boda boda rider, was also arrested for attempting to retrieve Bruno’s car from a washing bay.
The suspects allegedly used the stolen funds to purchase vehicles, which were impounded by police.
“We commend the swift action of our officers in apprehending these suspects,” said a police spokesperson.
The investigation continues, with efforts to locate additional suspects.
