A 48-year-old man, Ssekiwunga Edward, also known as God, was stabbed to death in Mityana district on Christmas Day.

The incident occurred at around 11 pm on December 25, 2024, at Busaato Kyamagemule village, Kalangaalo subcounty.

According to preliminary findings, the suspect, Bafirawala Peter, and the deceased were close friends. On the day of the incident, Bafirawala had invited Ssekiwunga to a Christmas party at his home.

However, Ssekiwunga had first gone to watch a football match in Kalangalo and later proceeded to Bafirawala’s home.

Upon arrival, Ssekiwunga found Bafirawala asleep and decided to leave with the suspect’s wife.

When Bafirawala woke up and discovered his wife was missing, he became suspicious and followed them.

He allegedly found Ssekiwunga and his wife in a compromising position in a coffee plantation and stabbed them both with a knife.

Ssekiwunga sustained serious injuries, including four stab wounds on his ribs and buttocks, and was discovered in a critical condition by a child in the morning.

He succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the hospital.

The police have visited the scene of the crime and recorded statements from witnesses. The body of the deceased has been taken to Mityana hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

The suspect’s home has been destroyed by an angry mob, and efforts are underway to apprehend Bafirawala and bring him to justice.

The police spokesperson for Wamala Region, SP Kawala Racheal, confirmed the incident and urged anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.
