Kampala, Uganda – Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has delivered a passionate New Year’s message, urging Ugandans to unite and fight against corruption and oppression.
Sentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, emphasized that 2025 is a critical year in the country’s revolutionary cause, presenting an opportunity for liberation and redemption.
In his message, Sentamu reflected on Uganda’s history, highlighting missed opportunities for building a fair and just society.
He cited instances of corruption, human rights abuses, and economic mismanagement under President Museveni’s rule, which has spanned over four decades.
Sentamu expressed condolences to families who have lost loved ones, including the NUP’s Deputy President for Western Region, who passed away last year.
He also acknowledged the struggles faced by Ugandans, including poverty, poor healthcare, and limited access to education.
The opposition leader emphasized the need for collective action, encouraging Ugandans to register to vote, participate in elections, and stand for office under the NUP flag.
He also urged citizens to use various platforms, including protests, social media, and parliament, to fight for their rights and demand change.

Sentamu highlighted the country’s poor healthcare system, citing the high mortality rate of mothers and babies.
He also pointed out the poor state of education, with many children dropping out of school due to poverty and lack of resources.
The NUP leader criticized the government’s priorities, stating that the regime spends more on the president’s home than on education and healthcare.
He emphasized that the country’s resources are being mismanaged and stolen by those in power.
Sentamu’s message was not without personal risk, as he acknowledged threats from Museveni’s son, who promised to cause harm and even cut off Sentamu’s nose.
However, Sentamu remained defiant, saying, “God is with us. Whatever he desires for us will come upon him and his family unless they repent and change course.”
The NUP leader’s New Year message serves as a rallying cry for Ugandans to demand accountability, justice, and equality in 2025. As Sentamu emphasized,
“We must take back that power from a group that has caused so much suffering and humiliation to our people and use it, as the people of Uganda, to build a better nation.”
Sentamu also highlighted the importance of unity among Ugandans, saying, “Let us remain united and focused. Let us remember who the enemy is and focus there. The rest are pawns on his chessboard.”
The opposition leader encouraged Ugandans to stand for office under the NUP flag and to participate in the electoral process.
He emphasized that the NUP flag is not for sale and that the party’s candidate selection process will prioritize the voice of the people.
Sentamu’s message has been met with enthusiasm from NUP supporters and other Ugandans who are eager for change.
As the country prepares for elections in 2026, Sentamu’s call to action is likely to resonate with many who are seeking a better future for Uganda.
