Kampala, Uganda – UMEME, the leading electricity distribution company in Uganda, has announced that its Yaka vending system will be temporarily unavailable from Sunday, December 8, 2024, to Monday, December 9, 2024, until 6:00 AM.

This shutdown is necessary to facilitate a planned system upgrade aimed at improving the system’s performance and reliability.

UMEME has advised its customers to purchase sufficient Yaka units in advance to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the system downtime.

The company has also provided several channels for customers to seek assistance or inquire about the upgrade, including toll-free numbers (0800 285 285 / 0800 385 385), WhatsApp (0772 285 285), and email (callcenter@umeme.co.ug).

UMEME has apologized for any inconvenience the temporary shutdown may cause and assured customers that the upgrade will lead to a more efficient and reliable service.

The company appreciates the public’s understanding as it continues to enhance its infrastructure to meet the growing demand for power across the country.
