A gruesome incident unfolded in Kiryanongo village, Kyankwanzi district, on March 20, 2026, leaving two suspected cannibals dead and a community in shock.
The victims, identified as Ssemasaka and Hakiza Damaseni, both Rwandan nationals, were lynched by an angry mob after a human body was discovered in their house with parts chopped and prepared for cooking.
The deceased, Vensi, a local prostitute from Nakabugo village, had been missing for some time.
A suspicious neighbor alerted others after noticing a foul smell from Ssemasaka’s house, leading to the discovery of the gruesome scene.
Police, led by the Kyankwanzi DPC, visited the scene and took the bodies of the three deceased to Ntwetwe health center for postmortem. Investigations into the murder and mob justice are ongoing.
SSP Lameck Kigozi, police spokesperson for Wamala Region, appealed to the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
“We appeal to the public to desist from acts of mob action on suspected criminals,” he said.
