    TRAGEDY STRIKES: Lightning Kills 14, Injures 34 During Church Service

    Lamwo, Uganda – November 2, 2024 – A devastating lightning strike claimed the lives of 14 people and injured 34 others during a prayer service at a church in Palabek settlement camp, Zone 8, Block 2, Lamwo district.

    The incident occurred at approximately 5:30 PM local time, when a sudden rainstorm swept through the area.

    The victims, who had gathered for prayers, were caught off guard as the lightning thunder struck.

    Emergency responders swiftly evacuated the injured to Paluda Health Center III for medical attention.

    The identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of their families.

    The Uganda Red Cross Society and local authorities  dispatched teams to assist with rescue efforts and provide support to affected families.
