A devastating road accident occurred this morning in Kisekende village, South division, Mubende municipal, Mubende district, resulting in the loss of two lives.
A speeding car, a Premio with registration number UBK 491A, lost control and knocked down two pedestrians, who tragically died on the spot.
The victims, identified as Maama Grace and her son, whose name has not been disclosed, were residents of Kangulumira, South division, Mubende district.
They were on their way to tend to their garden on this fateful Saturday morning, February 15, 2025, when the ill-fated car struck them.
Eyewitnesses report that the car, which was traveling at high speed, crashed into an electric pole before coming to a halt near a building.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of destruction and grief.
Police officers arrived promptly at the scene and took the bodies of the deceased to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examination.
The car involved in the accident has been impounded at Mubende Central Police Station (CPS).
The police are urging anyone with information about the driver’s whereabouts to come forward.
