The academic community at Bishop Stuart University (BSU) is in shock and mourning following the brutal murder of Dr. James Katumba, a dedicated lecturer at the institution.
Dr. Katumba was abducted last Saturday and his lifeless body was discovered in Kenkombe on Sunday morning.
The circumstances surrounding his death have raised serious concerns, with relatives recounting that Dr. Katumba had been urgently requesting UGX 3 million from family members shortly after leaving home in Kinoni Town Council, Rwampara District, on Saturday morning.
Unfortunately, the family was unable to meet the ransom demand, and Dr. Katumba’s body was later found.
Students and lecturers at BSU are calling upon the police to expedite investigations into the murder, ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
“We urge the police to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice for Dr. Katumba and his family,” said a spokesperson for the university. “The academic community demands a thorough investigation and swift action against the perpetrators.”
On social media, Ugandans have been expressing their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, while also voicing their concerns about the rising cases of murders in the country.
Many have called upon the Uganda Police Force to take concrete actions against suspects and ensure the safety of citizens.
The police have yet to issue an official statement regarding the case.
