Mpigi, Uganda – An anonymous letter threatening violence has been dropped at the Mpigi-Gomba taxi stage, sparking concern among local law enforcement.

The letter, delivered by an unknown taxi and boda boda rider to Mpigi Central Police Station (CPS), targets Mpigi District Police Commander, SP Julius Tugumenawe, and Sergeant Nabagala, attached to the Community Policing Unit (CFPU) at Mpigi CPS.

According to police, the letter threatens to shoot the two officers today August 30, 2024, using a gun. The letter also claims responsibility for recent school thefts in Butambala.

Police have registered a case of threatening violence by anonymous letter, SD Ref 80/29/08/24, and are investigating.

The letter mentions two phone numbers, 0709581085 (Tonny) and 0708197187 (Frank), which police plan to submit for analysis and tracking to apprehend the culprits.

“We take these threats seriously and are working to identify those behind them,” said SP Tugumenawe.

    The investigation is ongoing.
