Lujja Bbosa Tabula, the self-confessed key suspect in the murder of Ndiga Clan leader Eng. Daniel Bbosa, made a surprising plea in court yesterday, asking for the release of four co-accused individuals who he claims are “innocent”.

“These are just my relatives who do not know anything,” Tabula said in court. “It is not right and fair to keep them on remand yet I am ready to carry my own cross.”

Tabula, who has admitted to the murder, requested that authorities only keep him and his nephew Noah Lujja in custody.

The four suspects he seeks to be released are Harriet Nakiguli, 40, Joseph Nakabale, 47, Ezra Mayanja, 44, and Buganda Kingdom’s tradition court clerk Milly Naluwenda, 46.

However, prosecution leader Caroline Mpumwire objected to Tabula’s request, citing that the case is set to be committed to the High Court for trial.

Mpumwire also mentioned that new evidence has come to light, requiring an updated indictment.

Mwanga II Magistrate Adam Byaruhanga agreed with the prosecution, stating that he lacks jurisdiction to handle a capital offense.

“The suspects are facing a charge of murder, which is capital in nature and only trialable by the High Court,” Byaruhanga said.

“It will be the High Court to decide whether you have a case to answer or not and will be the same court to determine whether you should be granted bail or not.”

The case has been adjourned to October 24.

    Background of the Case

Eng. Daniel Bbosa was killed on February 25, 2024, by gunmen on a motorcycle in Lungujja, Kampala.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Tabula worked with Naluwenda to hire Bbosa’s killers.
