At approximately 0750hrs on the 5th of December 2023, a tragic incident unfolded within the jurisdiction of Kira Road Division, KMP East. Ocan Morris, a 53-year-old private security officer employed by Inken Distributors Limited and residing in Bukoto, along old Kira road in Nakawa Division, Kampala District, reported a shooting incident involving alleged intruders.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Okema Patrick, 34 years old from Kitgum, and Sekiwiro Dennis, 38 years old from Dokolo. The suspected shooter is Oringo Bosco, a 27-year-old private security guard working with Daron Security Company and residing in Mbuya, Kampala District.

According to preliminary investigations, Oringo Bosco, on duty at Betimo Inken offices along old Kira road, claimed to have encountered three trespassers around midnight. He asserted that, while on the wall fence, he observed two individuals attempting to unlawfully enter the office.

Allegedly, one of the intruders was armed, prompting Bosco to open fire in self-defense, resulting in the unfortunate demise of Patrick and Dennis.

The crime scene has been thoroughly examined by a team comprising homicide, SOCO (Scene of Crime Officer), crime intelligence, and uniformed officers. A comprehensive case file has been initiated to facilitate a thorough inquiry.

Various items have been recovered as exhibits, including a well-sharpened iron bar capable of breaching doors, the weapon used in the shooting, an ax saw blade head, and identification cards belonging to the deceased individuals.

Fingerprints were lifted from the damaged door, and the bodies have been conveyed to the City mortuary pending postmortem examinations.

The matter remains under active investigation, and updates will be communicated. The police emphasize their commitment to a transparent and comprehensive inquiry into this incident.
