Buhweju, Uganda – Police in Buhweju District have arrested four individuals in connection with the murder of a prison warder attached to Buhweju Prison, who was allegedly killed due to his relationship with a concubine.
According to SSP Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, the incident occurred between Saturday night and Sunday morning, August 3-4, 2024, in Kakiika Cell, Nsiika Town Council.
The deceased, identified as PC Warder Alex Kajwarire, 45, was found dead in the middle of the road with visible head injuries.
The four suspects, all residents of Kakiika Cell, are Innocent Nuwabiine, 19, Lawrence Sabarangira, 38, Godwine Asiimwe, 38, and Specioza Kasande, 45, the deceased’s concubine.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased had been in a relationship with Kasande, whose husband had moved to Kampala.
It is alleged that Kasande’s sons had previously assaulted and injured the deceased, warning him to end the relationship.
The body has been taken to Nkika Health Centre IV mortuary for a post-mortem examination, and investigations are ongoing.
Police are working to establish the motive behind the murder and ensure that justice is served.
