The media fraternity in Mubende District is set to mark a major milestone on 14 December 2025 with the official launch of the Mubende Field Press Association (MFPA), a newly formed umbrella organization for journalists working across the Mubende district.

The association aims to professionalize field reporting, promote ethical journalism, and strengthen collaboration between the media, local authorities, and the community.
The launch ceremony, expected to take place at Mubende Joyce hotel Hall, will bring together journalists from radio, television, print, and online platforms, along with district leaders, civil society representatives, and media stakeholders from across the region.
According to the organizing committee, MFPA was created in response to longstanding challenges faced by field reporters and other journalists—ranging from safety concerns and limited training opportunities to the need for a unified platform that can advocate for journalists’ rights and welfare.
“MFPA will serve as a collective voice for all journalists in Mubende. We want to build a professional, well-equipped, and protected media community that reports with integrity and contributes to the development of our district.”
Local leaders have welcomed the initiative, noting that a strong and organized press is vital for accountability and public awareness.
The Resident District Commissioner is expected to officiate at the event, with messages focusing on media freedom, responsible reporting, and strengthening partnerships between the media and government institutions.
During the launch, members will officially adopt the association’s constitution, unveil its leadership structure, and outline a strategic plan for 2025.
Key priorities include enhancing journalists’ safety, offering skills training, promoting ethical standards, and establishing coordination mechanisms among media houses.
Once launched, the Mubende Field Press Association will begin registering members and rolling out programs aimed at strengthening local journalism and improving information dissemination within the district and beyond.
