The National Unity Platform (NUP) has taken a significant step towards strengthening its leadership with the appointment of various leaders to key roles.

This development comes after the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NUP approved the appointments, which will be in acting capacity until the Delegates’ Conference.

    The appointed leaders include:

    • Hon. Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi_ as Deputy President for the Buganda Region, a position previously held by Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba.

Mpuuga’s departure from the role follows controversy surrounding his receipt of a 500 million Uganda shillings reward while serving as the Leader of Opposition.

The top leadership of the NUP had called for his resignation and asked him to return the funds, but he reportedly failed to do so.

    • Hon. Jolly Jacklyn Tukamushaba_ as Deputy President for the Western Region.
    • Rev. Dr. Ben Byamugisha Butumbwire_ as Secretary for the Elderly.
    • Ms. Harriet Ageno_ as Secretary for Policy.
    • Mr. Julius Maganda_ as Secretary for Persons With Disability (PWDs).
    • Mr. Bwambale Geoffrey_ as Secretary for Youth, Western Region

The NUP leadership has congratulated the appointed leaders, charging them to remain true to the values of the party’s liberation struggle and to work hard to advance the cause.

This move is seen as a strategic step towards consolidating the party’s structures and preparing for future elections.

The NUP has been growing in strength and popularity since its formation, with a significant presence in the Ugandan parliament.

The party’s leadership has been working to build a strong and effective team to drive its agenda and promote its values.
