Mohamed Salah stressed his desire to help drive Liverpool’s Premier League title pursuit after the 5-0 victory at West Ham United.

The No.11 once again was a key protagonist at London Stadium on Sunday, scoring once and creating two goals as the Reds moved eight points clear at the top of the table.

Luis Diaz had put the visitors in front in the capital before Salah teed up Gakpo to strike and then swept in the third of the evening himself.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deflected effort from distance increased the lead to four and an excellent Salah dribble preceded substitute Diogo Jota wrapping up the scoring.

Post-match, Salah – who took his tallies for 2024-25 to 20 goals and 17 assists on the day – spoke to Sky Sports.

Read a summary of his reaction below…

On a ‘very good, very dominant’ team performance…

Yeah, of course. I’m glad for the result; we managed to score the goals early and we dealt with the game very well. That’s the most important thing. And we managed also to score a few goals.

On a clever bit of play to realise he was offside in the build-up to setting up Gakpo’s goal…

I think it’s quite similar to the Arsenal goal, also I was offside and I left the ball to Darwin [Nunez].

This one, Lucho was shouting behind me, or screaming, and I knew I was offside. I had to run towards the goalkeeper and then he gave the ball and crossed it to me. I managed to pass it to Cody also.

On being on course for an ‘all-time great season’ in the Premier League, and individual and collective targets being on his mind…

The only thing in my mind, to be fair, is I want Liverpool to win the league and I just want to be part of that.

That’s the only thing I’ve really focused [on] since the beginning of the season. I will do my best for the team to win trophies.

We are in the right direction but of course there are a few other teams really trying to catch up with us and they are very good teams.

We just need to stay focused and humble, work hard and just go again.

On always trying to get better on a personal level…

I’m just trying to enjoy the game. To be fair, I was disappointed with a few chances I missed today, but at the end of the day I came here for the result.

I want the team to win, I want to do something in the game and I’m glad I did. But I’m always hungry for more, hopefully in the next one I will score more.

But the most important thing, again, is the team won the game.

On this game being a much happier experience than Liverpool’s last trip to West Ham…

The players before the game in the dressing room told me, ‘Oh, remember what happened here last year?’

And the guys were laughing. Virgil [van Dijk] started it! We had a bit of a laugh about that.

We had not a nice memory here last year but I’m glad this one we had a better one.
