Mubende, Uganda – One of the aides to the current Mubende Municipality MP faced a 14-day ultimatum to pay a 2 million shilling debt to widow Nantumbwe Esther or face legal consequences.
After binocularug.com exposed the decade-long unpaid debt, the magistrate court ordered the aide to settle the amount within two weeks.
However, the MP’s office remained silent on the issue, despite recently receiving allowances for a regional plenary in Gulu last month.
The three-day plenary provided MPs with 1.6 million shillings in per diem, but no assistance was offered to the struggling aide.
In a surprising move, Akankwasa Ramadhan, a candidate vying for the NRM ticket in the 2025 elections Mubende municipal, intervened to help the aide. Ramadhan’s gesture has been hailed as a compassionate act.
“I didn’t do it for political gain,” Ramadhan said. “Everyone needs support in this world. Loving each other is the beautiful way to go.”
Widow Nantumbwe Esther expressed gratitude for the debt settlement, stating, “Justice has finally been served after 10 years of demanding my money.”
