Kampala University Owner Prof. Kateregga Seeks DNA Test for Twins After Alleging Domestic Abuse by Wife

Kampala University owner, Prof. Badru Kateregga, has alleged that he was subjected to domestic violence by his wife, Jolly Shubaiha, and is now seeking a DNA test to determine the paternity of their twins.

According to Kateregga, Shubaiha “clobbered” him and left him for dead after hitting him with a hard blunt object that badly fractured some of his internal organs around the head area.

He claims that Shubaiha’s behavior led to him being “beaten like a thief,” locked in his own home, and threatened with death.

Kateregga attributes his survival to intervention from his children, particularly Badria Kateregga and Fakia Kateregga, who he says “came to his rescue” after he was left unconscious in the house.

He claims that Shubaiha had turned their palatial residence into a “torture chamber” and that he was subjected to daily abuse.

Kateregga says he was in a coma for weeks and required months of specialized treatment to recover.

The twins in question are claimed to be the children of Kateregga and Shubaiha, his Munyarwanda wife.

Kateregga suspects Shubaiha had relationships with other men, including a high-ranking SFC commando and a top banker at DFCU Bank, potentially making one of them the father of the twins.

Kateregga had initially pleaded with the court to allow the DNA test to be conducted at the American Embassy laboratory, citing concerns over potential tampering of results at the local laboratory.

The court has directed Kateregga to undergo a DNA test at the government laboratory in Wandegeya to determine the paternity of the twins.

Shubaiha denies the allegations, claiming Kateregga wants to dump her for a younger woman and is trying to demonize her.

She demands Shs 3 million in upkeep for the children and accuses Kateregga of planning to exclude her from their jointly acquired wealth.

Kateregga has decreed that his 25 children, particularly those based in the diaspora, are the only ones with authority to run his estate should he pass on.

He has also narrated his ordeal to his friends and family, including the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga.

Kateregga is determined to protect his business and legacy, and Shubaiha is fighting to maintain her stake in the university.

The outcome of the DNA test and the court’s decision will have significant implications for both parties.
