A Kampala city businessman, Ssesaazi Robert, who owns Trinity Love School in Nyanama, Kampala, is grappling with grief following the sudden death of his son, Elishamah Ssesanga.
The 16-year-old student at Seeta High School allegedly took his own life in the school dormitory on Friday.
According to sources, Elishamah had requested UGX 2 million from his father, but was denied.
Ssesaazi Robert reportedly told his son that he did not have the money and did not see a valid reason for the request.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the school community, with students and teachers struggling to come to terms with the loss.
Elishamah’s body was discovered by fellow students during morning preps, and police were subsequently called to the scene.
The deceased will be laid to rest today in Kyotera.
The incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of addressing mental health concerns and the need for open communication between parents and children.
As the family and friends mourn the loss of Elishamah, authorities are urged to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death to ensure that necessary measures are taken to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
