Police have taken into custody Mr. Issa Sekito, the acting chairperson of the Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA), as part of ongoing inquiries into allegations of incitement and assault on police officers.
In a statement released by ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, authorities confirmed that Sekito was apprehended on Thursday to aid investigations.

His formal statement, according to police, will be recorded before any charges are brought forward.
“The suspect is currently detained as we continue with our investigations. Once his statement is obtained, further legal steps will be taken,” Owoyesigyire stated.
Police also disclosed that thirteen other individuals were arrested on Wednesday for their suspected involvement in violent acts and attacks on officers performing official duties. The case file has been submitted to the Resident State Attorney for review and further guidance.
Owoyesigyire appealed to the public to remain peaceful and refrain from engaging in activities that could provoke unrest or interfere with business operations in Kampala’s central business district.
He added that law enforcement will continue to maintain a strong presence across the city to prevent unlawful actions and safeguard public order.
