The Electoral Commission of Uganda has disqualified National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Mathias Walukaga from the Busiro East Member of Parliament (MP) race, citing lack of requisite minimum formal qualifications for the elective office.

According to a document, signed by Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Walukaga failed to meet the minimum academic requirements needed for the elective office, as stipulated under Section 4 (1) (c) of the Parliamentary Elections Act, Cap. 177.
