Kyankwanzi, Uganda – A devastating incident has occurred in Biroboka Cell, Kyankwanzi Town Council, claiming the lives of three juvenile siblings.

The territorial police in Kyankwanzi have registered a case of drowning, which happened on August 28, 2024.

The victims have been identified as:

    1. Bambozo Sylvia (female, 8 years old)
    2. Mugwanya Alex (male, 6 years old)
    3. Namuli Oliva (female, 3 years old)

All three children were offspring of Ssekiziyivu Patrick, a resident of Biroboka Cell, Kyankwanzi District.

According to police reports, the family had temporarily relocated to Biroboka Cell from Buswabwera Village, Byerima Sub County, approximately three years ago, for gardening purposes.

On August 24, 2024, Nambozo Noor, the mother of the deceased, left for their home in Byerima Village for domestic chores, leaving the father with the children.

Tragically, on August 28, Ssekiziyivu left the children unattended and visited a friend in Lubiri Trading Centre. It was during this time that he received news of his children’s drowning in a dam at Petero Tumushabe’s farm.

Police responded promptly, examining and documenting the scene.

Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, SP Kawala Racheal, urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and cautious, emphasizing the importance of adult supervision.

“Leave no child unattended, even for a short time,” she warned.

    Investigations are ongoing.
