Dr. Kizza Besigye Given Ultimatum: Eat Prison Food or Starve, Says PFF Delegation

Dr. Kizza Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate, has been given an ultimatum by authorities at Luzira Maximum Prison: eat prison food or starve.

A delegation from the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) recently visited Besigye and reported that all food items they brought for him were rejected.

According to the delegation, prison authorities claimed that items like posho, milk, millet flour, honey, cooking oil, rice, and blue band are available for purchase at the prison canteen.

However, Besigye has expressed distrust in the canteen food and has opted to starve instead.

This is not the only restriction placed on Besigye. The PFF delegation reported that they are no longer allowed to physically meet with him during visits, instead being forced to communicate through a prison phone booth.

Furthermore, Besigye is not permitted to interact with other prisoners or attend prayers, effectively placing him in a “prison within a prison.”

Doreen Nyanjula, Deputy Lord Mayor of Kampala and a member of the PFF, has condemned the treatment of Besigye, stating that she is convinced “beyond reasonable doubt” that President Museveni is determined to kill Besigye.

This allegation comes after a recent statement by Museveni’s son, General Muhoozi, who said: “Yesterday, I said we would HANG Besigye on Heroes Day (June 9th).

But thanks to some IDIOTS in parliament we have brought the day closer! We will hang him on May 9th! After we kill Besigye it will be the turn of some MPs.

Their necks have grown too fat from stealing money from us. We will hang them!”

This statement has added to the growing concerns about Besigye’s safety and well-being while in detention.
