Dedan Mubangizi, a well-known figure in Mubende district, has officially confirmed his candidacy for the Buwekula South Member of Parliament (MP) seat.
Mubangizi was nominated by the Electoral Commission of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, according to Dr. Tanga Odoi, the chairperson of the EC.
Dr. Odoi revealed that Mubangizi has submitted all the necessary documents to qualify for the NRM primaries, scheduled to take place in July this year.
The primaries will determine the party’s candidate for the general elections early next year.
Mubangizi, popularly known as a “man of action,” expressed his excitement about the new chapter in his life.
“All the time I have been serving my people without holding any office, now since I have started the journey of getting into that office, I promise not to change. I believe in service first,” he said.
Mubangizi highlighted his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by his community.
“I have been seeing challenges my community facing, those in my powers I helped, so now am seeking this office to serve my community,” he added.
The candidate has a reputation for his tireless efforts in serving his community.
Some of his notable achievements include purchasing an ambulance that is serving the community, helping in the construction of boreholes for clean water, and intervening in the construction of schools.
With his nomination confirmed, Mubangizi is gearing up for the NRM primaries, aiming to secure the party ticket and go on to contest in the general elections next year.
His campaign promises to build on his track record of service to the community, focusing on addressing the needs and concerns of the people of Buwekula South.
