Hon. Kabanda David, Member of Parliament for Kasambya County, has advised residents to prioritize voting for leaders who will work tirelessly for their benefit.
He made these remarks while monitoring government programs, including the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, in Nabingoola sub-county.
Kabanda’s statement was in response to criticism from Mubende Municipality MP Hajji Bashir Lubega Sempa on Point FM.
Kabanda challenged Sempa to organize similar meetings with his constituents to gather feedback on his leadership.
Notably, Kabanda apologized to the people of Mubende municipality for supporting Sempa, who he believes has failed to effectively represent them in Parliament.
The 2021 general elections saw the formation of the “BAMUDA” alliance, comprising Bashir Lubega Ssempa, Muhereza Ntambi Micheal, and Kabanda David, all from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
The alliance secured wins for Sempa as Mubende Municipal MP, Muhereza as Mubende District Chairperson, and Kabanda as Kasambya County MP.
Challenges Facing Sempa’s Leadership
Low Parliamentary Engagement: Sempa is rarely seen in Parliament, sparking concerns about his representation of Mubende municipal issues.
Unfulfilled Promises: Sempa has faced criticism for failing to deliver on promises made during the 2021 elections.
Constituency Challenges: Over six individuals have expressed interest in challenging Sempa’s position.
Political analysts suggest that Sempa’s repeated attacks on Kabanda, Secretary-General of the Patriotic League of Uganda(PLU), are attempts to maintain media presence amidst his struggling leadership.
