Hamz Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium in Kampala has officially been certified by FIFA under the leadership of its President, Gianni Infantino. This prestigious certification, signed by Infantino himself, marks a new chapter in the stadium’s storied history and elevates it to international standards, ready to host world-class football events.

Following extensive testing and inspection, FIFA awarded Hamz Stadium turf a clean bill of health by FIFA, with the certification valid from October 4, 2024, to October 3, 2027.

“FIFA is pleased to confirm that the football turf system Duofilament Mono has been installed by Nurteks Hali San.ve Tic. A.S. at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo Memorial – Hamz Stadium Nakivubo War Memorial – Kampala (Uganda). The installation has been tested and certified to the “FIFA QUALITY PROGRAMME FOR FOOTBALL TURF – FIFA QUALITY” standard,” reads a certificate signed off by FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Monday.FIFA Certificate

Now this is a clear testament to Ham’s commitment to modernizing sports facilities and enhancing the country’s standing in the world of football. By meeting FIFA’s rigorous standards under the Football Turf Quality Programme, the stadium is now equipped to host international competitions, including World Cup qualifiers and CAF tournaments. The certification is valid from October 2024 to October 2027, solidifying its status for the next three years.

A key factor behind the stadium’s upgrade is the installation of the state-of-the-art Duofilament Mono turf system, installed by Nurteks Hali San.ve Tic. A.S. This cutting-edge technology guarantees a top-tier playing experience, improving ball control, minimizing injuries, and offering exceptional performance under various weather conditions. The transformation places Nakivubo in the same category as some of the world’s premier football venues, offering Ugandan players the opportunity to perform on a pitch of international standard.

The stadium has long been a cornerstone of Uganda’s sports history, and this new chapter marks a turning point for both the venue and the country.

For new readers, this Stadium has been central to Uganda’s sports culture. It has hosted numerous football matches, including national league games, international fixtures, and cup finals.

The stadium has witnessed the rise of many football legends and has been a nurturing ground for young talent aspiring to make their mark on both the local and international stages.

Beyond football, the stadium has also been a venue for athletics, boxing, and other sports events, contributing to the development of a vibrant sports culture in Uganda.
