Aspiring Member of Parliament for Bukomansimbi North, Lule Maurice, narrowly escaped death in a road accident along the Mubende-Kampala highway.
The incident occurred on Friday 20-06-2025 at around 2 pm at Katosi village when the car’s front tire lost pressure after hitting a pothole, causing it to ram into a parked vehicle.
Fortunately, Lule, his driver, and two other occupants survived with minor injuries. Lule, who is affiliated with the National Unity Platform (NUP), the leading opposition party in Uganda, was en route to Kampala for official duties when the accident occurred.
In the aftermath of the incident, Lule expressed his frustration with the government’s failure to maintain good roads, despite collecting taxes from citizens.
“It’s the pothole in the road that almost took my life,” he said. “We don’t deserve such roads because we pay taxes. It’s high time all people support us, from our president Robert Kyagulanyi to us, and we change the power. We promise that under our leadership, every Ugandan will enjoy the benefits of this country, not just the selected ones.”
Lule’s sentiments reflect the growing discontent among Ugandans with the government’s handling of infrastructure development.
The NUP, led by Robert Kyagulanyi, has been vocal about the need for systemic change and better governance in Uganda.
