MOB JUSTICE CLAIMS LIFE OF DRIVER IN MUBENDE DISTRICT

Mubende, Uganda – The territorial police of Mubende have arrested three suspects in connection with the murder of 29-year-old driver, Mida, who was killed by mob justice on August 27, 2024, in Kayana village, Naluwondwa parish, Maduddu sub-county.

According to eyewitnesses, Mida, a driver of a cantar custom motor vehicle, had traveled with friends to Kayana village to collect banana leaves to transport to Kampala.

While his friends lodged nearby because they reached late night, Mida remained in the vehicle to prevent theft.

Shortly after, a fight erupted outside, and Mida’s friends found him being burnt alive, along with the vehicle.

Police were called to the scene, but unfortunately, Mida had already succumbed to his injuries.

His body was found burnt, lying in front of the charred vehicle.

The motive behind the mob justice is still unknown, and police investigations are ongoing.

Three suspects are currently in custody at Mubende Central Police Station.

Police Spokesperson, SP Racheal Kawala, has condemned the act of mob justice, urging the public to allow the law to take its course.

“We request people to stop taking the law into their own hands and instead report any suspicious activities to the authorities,” she said.
