20 Days Left to Apologize: Mityana Woman MP Joyce Bagala and other rebel MPs Refuses to Bend to NUP Ultimatum

Mityana District Woman MP, Hon. Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa, has declared that she will not apologize to National Unity Platform (NUP) President Bobi Wine and party supporters, despite being given a 30-day ultimatum to do so.

With only 20 days remaining, Hon. Bagala remains resolute, stating that she has done nothing wrong and therefore sees no reason to apologize.

The ultimatum was issued by NUP Deputy President for the Buganda region, Kivumbi Muwanga, who called on incumbent MPs with strained relations with the party to come out and apologize.

Muwanga warned that failure to comply would result in the party taking action against them in their constituencies.

“President, I am asking that you give them one month and they come and apologize, failure of which we shall go after them in their constituencies,” Muwanga Kivumbi said.

NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) echoed the call, urging unity among party members as they prepare for the 2026 elections.

“The time is far spent, I don’t think we still have one month. But as asked by the deputy president, we’ll go with that and see,” said Kyagulanyi.

In response, Hon. Bagala said, “I am still an active member of NUP and I subscribe to the party and also carry out its activities even without stepping foot at the headquarters.” She further advised Kivumbi Muwanga to focus on the 2026 Presidential elections and the fight against Gen. Museveni rather than expending energy on internal party conflicts.

“I advise the National Unity Platform deputy president, Kivumbi Muwanga to put his energy on the 2026 Presidential elections and fighting Gen Museveni instead of wasting time fighting party members,” she said.

Hon. Bagala also questioned the basis for the expected apology, stating, “I should be notified about the case why I am apologizing, then I will do so.”

Among the MPs mentioned in the ongoing standoff alongside Hon. Bagala are Mathias Mpuuga (Nyendo-Mukungwe), Dr. Abed Bwanika (Kimaanya-Kabonera), Jimmy Lwanga (Njeru Municipality), Bashir Kazibwe Mbazira (Kawempe South), Dr. Twaha Kagabo (Bukoto South), and Michael Kakembo (Entebbe Municipality).
