A devastating mudslide has struck Bulambuli District in Uganda, leaving a trail of destruction and loss of life in its wake.

As of the latest update, a total of 15 bodies have been retrieved from the rubble, while 15 injured individuals have been rescued and are currently receiving medical attention at Buluganya Health Center three.

Unfortunately, the situation remains dire, with 113 people still reported missing.

Rescue efforts are underway, with the Police and other security agencies working in tandem with the local community to locate those still trapped.

However, the rescue operations are being hindered by impassable roads, which are preventing vehicles, including ambulances and wheel loaders, from reaching the scene.

The mudslides have affected five villages in Buluganya Sub County, including Masugu, Namachele, Natola, Namagugu, and Tagalu.

The Uganda Red Cross Society and other emergency responders are working tirelessly to provide aid and support to those affected.

The Office of the Prime Minister has dispatched a team to assess the damage and provide relief to the affected areas.

State Minister for Disaster Preparedness, Lilian Aber, has also visited the area to assess the destruction caused by the mudslides.
